Computer labs
Looking to do some research, surf the web, or type a paper? There are two computer labs housed within the John C. Murphy Library on the Grayslake campus.
Reference Lab
The reference lab is located on the second floor of the library in the reference area. These computers are designated specifically for research use. Very few of the computers have Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) so you will need to visit another lab if you need to type a paper or complete a presentation. Also, librarians are often very busy answering questions and may not be able to help you with problems involving Microsoft Word, creating a graph in Excel, or other similar problems.
General Lab
The general lab is located on the first floor of the library near the Writing Center, Math Tutoring, and Testing. These computers are equipped with Microsoft Office products as well as many other special programs. If you need to type a paper or put together a presentation this is the perfect spot! There are scanners and additional equipment available along with students staffing the help desk to answer any technology questions you might have. If you are doing research or have a question about where to find information for your paper you should use the Reference Lab instead.
There are other computer labs available to students. Please ask at the Student Desk at the General Lab or the Reference Desk for more information.
