  • Academic Search Premier
    The world’s largest academic multi-disciplinary database, Academic Search Premier provides full text for more than 4,600 scholarly publications, including full text for more than 3,500 peer-reviewed journals. Coverage spans virtually every area of academic study and offers information dating as far back as 1975. This database is updated on a daily basis via EBSCOhost.




  • Chicago Tribune
    "Complete full-text content of local and regional news, including community events, schools, politics, government policies, cultural activities, local companies, state industries, and people in the community. Paid advertisements are excluded. " (Description from the Newsbank website)


  • Chicago Tribune Historical (1890 - 1984)
    The Chicago Tribune (1890-1984) offers full page and article images with searchable full text back to the first issue. The collection includes digital reproductions providing access to every page from every available issue.


  • CINAHL

  • College Source
    College Catalogs in complete cover-to-cover, original page format.


  • CQ Researcher
    "The award-winning The CQ Researcher explores a single "hot" issue in the news in depth each week. Topics range from social and teen issues to environment, health, education and science and technology. There are 44 reports produced each year including four expanded reports. The CQ Researcher web site offers online access to issues dating back to October 25, 1991. PDF files are available for full issues dating back to January 1996; for issues published since January 2001, PDF files are in color." (Description from the CQ Researcher website)


  • Criminal Justice
    "A comprehensive collection of U.S. and international criminal justice journals including information for professionals in law enforcement, corrections administration, drug enforcement, rehabilitation, family law, and industrial security." (Description from the proquest website)


  • EBSCO Databases*
    A collection of databases providing abstracts and full-text documents from key journals in specialized topic areas including biological sciences, economics, communications, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts and literature, medical sciences and women's studies.
    *EBSCO databases are accessible from computers located at the College of Lake County campus, Lakeshore campus, and Southlake Educational Center. CLC library card holders may also access EBSCO remotely by clicking on the word "EBSCO" highlighted above and by typing in your library barcode #.

  • FirstSearch*
    A collection of databases which includes abstracts and some full-text documents covering general topic areas, business, education and literature.
    *To access FirstSearch, patrons will need to obtain an authorization number and password from the library by calling (847) 543-2071.  Fill in the authorization and password fields, then click on the Start button. The FIRSTSEARCH PASSWORD CHANGED as of October 22nd, 2002. Please call to obtain the new password.

  • Gale Literature Resource Center
    Literature Resource Center lets users explore biographical and critical information, historical context, social implications and much more - all in a single search query. In addition to biographical, bibliographical and contextual information from the Contemporary Authors and Dictionary of Literary Biography databases, students and researchers can access full-text criticism from the Contemporary Literary Criticism Select database.


  • Harper's Weekly
    Harper's Weekly, the 19th century "Journal of Civilization" contains editorials, news stories, illustrations, cartoons and advertisements from this era.
    *Harper's Weekly is only accessible from library computers located at the College of Lake County campus.

  • Hoover's Online
    Hoover's Online is a database of business information containing 12 million companies, with in-depth coverage of 40,000 of the world's top business enterprises.
    *Hoover's Online is only accessible from library computers located at the College of Lake County campus.

  • Lexis-Nexis, Scholastic Universe
    Need information on a supreme court case or a state high court case? This database offers both, as well as law reviews, state laws, bill text and tracking services, congressional records, and voting reports, and profiles of Members of Congress.
    *Lexis-Nexis Scholastic Universe is only accessible from computers located at the College of Lake County campus.

  • MLA International Bibliography
    MLA International Bibliography is a bibliography of journal articles, books and dissertations. Produced by Modern Language Association, the electronic version of the Bibliography dates back to 1963 and contains over 1.5 million citations from more than 4,400 journals and series and 1,000 book publishers.


  • New York Times
    New York Times is a US newspaper that offerscoverage of national and international news, plus coverage of important speeches and documents, Supreme Court decisions and presidential press conference transcripts. Now available through Lexis-Nexis, on campus access only.


  • PDR
    The PDR Electronic Library covers the PRD, Stedman’s Medical Dictionary, PDR Herbals and allows Multi-Drug searching.

    The PDR Electronic Library is accessible from computers located at the College of Lake County Grayslake campus.


  • PsycARTICLES
    Database now provided by EBSCO. Detailed description coming soon.


  • PsycINFO

  • Sociological Collection (through EBSCO)
    The Sociological Collection is a comprehensive database covering information in all areas of sociology, including social behavior, human tendencies, interaction, relationships, community development, culture and social structure.


  • Westlaw
    Westlaw is West's online legal research service. It provides quick, easy access to West's vast collection of statutes, case law materials, public records, and other legal resources, along with current news articles and business information.

  • Wilson Databases*
    A collection of databases including abstracts and full-text documents in the following areas: applied science and technology, arts and humanities, biology and agriculture, business, education, and social sciences.
    *Wilson databases are accessible from computers located at the College of Lake County campus, Lakeshore campus, and Southlake Educational Center. CLC library card holders may also access Wilson databases remotely by clicking on the word "Wilson" highlighted above and entering your library card barcode #.
